Custom Home Building

Tall Traditions demonstrates a commitment to innovation and sustainable development through membership in the Green Home Builders of the Triangle and the Energy Star Partnership program. These programs provide educational and other resources that allow us to consult on and deliver sustainable and environmentally conscious home construction projects.

Some green innovations to consider1:

  • In-floor heat - installed under the tile radiates upload to keep heat close to your body (www.uponor-usa.com)
  • Windows reduce the need for turning on lights during the day. Windows with low-emissivity (low-E) coatings and argon gas between panes provide the best insulation in cold climates.
  • A tankless water heater warms water as needed rather than storing gallons in a large tank. When the hot tap water is turned on, cold water passes through the wall-mounted unit (about the size of a suitcase) and is dispensed instantly (www.rinnai.us)
  • Low-shower header sprays large water droplets, producing robust showers while using less water (www.deltafaucet.com)
  • Energy-smart CFLs (compact fluorescent lights) are now virtually the same size and shape as incandescent bulbs, making replacement easy (www.ge.com)
  • Water-saving toilets use half as much water as old models, and updated technologies ensure complete waste removal. (www.totousa.com)
