Building a Family Tradition of Excellence

In 1976, Richard Tilley Sr. and his father, Roy Tilley of Fuquay Varina, started Tall House Building Company. The company was founded on a dedication to excellence and honesty in every relationship and project they undertook. After thirty plus years of success in the NC residential home market, Richard and his only son, Richard David are continuing the family tradition of building excellence with formation of Tall Traditions in 2008.

Tall Traditions is a family business with a continuing strong emphasis on honesty, integrity, and excellence: new and improved services including custom home building, historic preservation, remodeling and green home consulting.

About Richard Tilley Sr.

Richard's love and skill for the building business was nurtured in high school and refined in college where he learned the details of the residential building business while working hands on. After graduating from Guildford College in 1972 with a degree in business management, Richard worked with local builders and Realtors until 1976 when Richard and his father started Tall House Building Company. For 32 years Tall House Building Company, under Richard’s leadership, rose to the top of custom builders in the Triangle area and three (3) times was voted the best in North Carolina and the recipient of innumerable awards and honors.

Richard and his wife of 39 years, Fayeson, live in Raleigh. Richard is heavily committed to continuing building his business and personal life on Godly principles and character. Richard has served as a deacon, elder and on several building committees in his church as well as on the Board of many Christian non-profit organizations, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Camp Oak Hill and New Life Camp where he currently serves as the Board's Vice Chairman.

About Richard David Tilley Jr.

Richard David is currently completing his service to his country as an Army Ranger and executive officer in the 82^nd Airborne. He is a licensed building contractor and we are looking forward to his skills and energy contributing to the tradition of excellence started by his grandfather and father.
